I've added a Musical Fidelity V-DACII from Ebay for £50 and it sounds just fine, even with the studio master files from Linn...

I can only speak for the Rega; I tried the Audiolab 8200 DAC and despite all the great reviews, I found it really hard to listen to. Just couldn't relax with it. I hated it.

The dealer suggested the Rega DAC and it was completely different; smooth, musical, dynamic but most of all I could sit and enjoy my music without feeling on edge nor losing the detail.

Based on my limited experience I can highly recommend the Rega.

As an aside, I've got it connected up with a HiFace2 and analogue cable to make higher bitrate audio available, but for CD rips this is not necessary and a cheap USB connector will work just as well.

I have a MyDac. A collegue of me has an Exposure amp with a MyDac. He is very satisfied. The MyDac is open and direct. Arcam is a bit soft. So I should listen to the MyDac en the Schitt.

To be honest, I'm completely lost in the decision... I just had the choice to listen to Moon 100d and enjoyed it a lot, but I don't know about the rest...

Besides, I feel like all of them are superb because i have read reviews in which all of them seem to be "just great" and all of them seem to have "the best dac sound you can get for less than 1k euro" c'mon!

Now it's ever worst because apparently there are two more DACs really interesting joining to the top list:

I have myDAC and am very pleased with it. I havent heard Arcam and Moon but with similar priced Dac's I have listened to, myDAC wins hands down! Just upgrade the PS cable and it will be golden.

Hello!

I'm planning to buy a DAC to be sourced by a raspberry pi using raspyfi and amplified by an Exposure 3010s2 integrated amplifier. I'm no looking for a DAC with headphones pre-amplifier nor balanced outputs, just a good DAC with a superb USB receiver. Initially i was considering to buy the Exposure DAC, but I don't really believe that paying 1000euros will give me an additional improvement compared to a 400euros DAC.

So after some time spent reading compatible DACs in this web and researching a little bit I have pre-selected this list:

Micromega myDAC - 300 euros

Arcam rDAC - 350 euros

Moon 100d - 450 euros (but I'm not sure about this model considering its 16 bit sampling for the USB input)

¿Any advice?
