There's still a bug on NTFS. To get NTFS working you should install ntfs-3g

Connect via ssh.

sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

Then check if ntfs is present in this line in /etc/usbmount.conf

sudo nano /etc/usbmount.conf

FILESYSTEMS="vfat ext2 ext3 ext4 hfsplus ntfs"

It there is not ntfs, just add it. Save (with ctrl+x) and reboot!
And it should work! Let me know !

Remember to use a powered usb hub with hard disks!

I have switched to using Beta 1.0 now. The USB hard drive still does not work. However...I have had success using a small USB stick! It sounds GREAT! Oscar Peterson is playing in my living room! Laugh

I must get my USB hard disk working though so that I can settle down to audio heaven. Could it be that the USB hard drive is NTFS, whereas the USB stick is FAT formatted? I had read that NTFS works on the Beta. I have scoured this website and the internet for help. I am so embarassed at my lack of knowledge.

If anyone can help please I would love to hear your advice.

I thought that I was unable to enter my IP address into GMPC; I was wrong!

I do have one more problem, in that updating the MDP database within GMPC (and Ario) does nothing. My music is currently in a folder on the USB hard disk, when viewed in Windows, appears as e:\FLAC. I have another as e:\music . Should I put these into different named folders perhaps?

Thank you in advance.

Well, you should have configured GMPC to connect to RaspyFi. Just click on preferences, connection, profile
just name it RaspyFI
put your IP address (the ip address of the Pi, you can find it via your router or attach a monitor and you'llfind out)
Leave 6600 as port

And you should be fine, don't put user and password here. Anyway, reading this should have answered to you yet:

Let me know!

I stumbled onto Raspyfi and realised it sounded perfect for me. So I ordered everything and I've recently had delivered my first Pi, a Schiit Modi USB DAC, I already had a USB hardisk with my FLAC files, and I followed the instructions to put Raspyfi RC2 on a Class 10 SD card. I have the Pi connected to my router by Ethernet cable.

Raspyfi seems to execute with no problems, I had to put in the default login and password. My problem comes when I run GMPC on my PC and on trying to connect it comes up with this message 'error 13: problems connecting to "localhost" on port 6600'. I don't know whether this is an issue with the Pi or my computer. I have enabled the port on my Firewall. I can connect to the Pi via Putty from my PC.

I have scoured the internet for a solution and spent hours trying to sort it now. I realised at the outset that it wouldn't be plug and play but I am now totally lost.

Can anyone help please?
