Well, rar has better compressing capabilities than zip... (but I'll consider using zip for mac users... now that i think...)

You can uncompress with winrar

Can you say why the distribution is compressed with rar rather than simply zipped? Not that I need to worry yet as I've not got a distribution to decompress!
