Let me know how it progress, if it continues to work... Different USB dongles have different chipsets, so different power requirements, and different driver modules...

I used another SD card, downloaded the most current release of Raspbian Wheezy and used the GUI WiFi setup. Once connected, I looked at the contents of the /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf files. I then jotted those settings down, powered off the Pi, and rebooted with the SD card containing the RaspyFi image. I rewrote the /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf files to match that of the ones of the Raspbian Weezy SD card. I also turned off the power management for the WiFi dongle so that it didn't shut off during inactivity by adding the following code to the /etc/modules file:

options 8192cu rtw_power_mgnt=0 rtw_enusbss=0

However, I still cannot get things to work in my living room... I bought one of the WiFi N mini dongles sold at Adafruit (item ID: 814). My living room is at most 25 feet away from my Wireless N router. Surely the WiFi dongle should be able to handle that?

FYI, here are the /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant files that resulted in the WiFi finally working:

I can sometimes get the wifi to work, but only if I'm in the same room as the router. The router is a wireless n, as is the dongle, so I believe that I should be able to get wifi 25 feet away in my living room, but, to this point, haven't been able to.

anybody have any ideas?

I know the rest of the system works as I can connect the Pi using the ethernet cable, and then connect to the Pi using my android phone. When I got it to work for the first time I was smiling ear to ear! I can't wait to get this up and running with WiFi so that I can enjoy this through my tube amp-driven stereo in my liviing/listening room!

any news on when Raspyfi 1.0 is going to go live!?

I've been really, really frustrated by trying to get WiFi up and running on Raspyfi RC2. I've tried configuring using the direct method of defining the wpa-ssid and wpa-psk in /etc/network/interfaces, the wpa_supplicant method, and the wicd-curses method. Unfortunately, none of them have been able to reliably get WiFi going in Raspyfi RC2. Wicd curses doesn't seem to work at all for me. However, I've had intermittent luck with both of the other methods. The problem is that I only get wifi to connect sparingly. Luckily, if I use the ethernet port, I can get MPD running stably. Does anyone have any thoughts about what to do?

Here's a little primer of my setup:

Raspberry Pi Model B
4gb MicroSD into SD Adapter
HiFimeDIY SABRE USB plugged directly into the Pi
D Link Dub H7 Powered USB Hub (the older version) plugged directly into the Pi
1TB powered external hard drive (FAT32) plugged into the hub
Logitech K400 Wireless Keyboard/Mouse with Logitech Unifying receiver
Realtek RTL8188CUS-based Wifi Dongle (from Adafruit)

I was able to get the WiFi working in the latest Rasbian Wheezy by not using the Wireless Logitech Keyboard/Mouse combo plugged in, so I think that it might be a power issue. I have ordered one of the Pluggable 7 port 3A hubs to see if that solves the problem. However, even without the keyboard, I can't get the WiFi to work in Raspyfi RC2.
