This is due to hardware\software issues which I'm waiting (not only me) to be solved. So raspyfi by default resamples to 44,1\16 as its the most common bitrate in order to avoid sound problems.
So, this means that if you're playing 44,1\16 or 48\16 you'll be in bit perfect, if you want to listen to 96\16 or 96\24 (and so on), you're not playing it bit perfect 'cause they get resampled down to 44,1\16.

Yes that makes complete sense. I'll put in the to-do list... But by know there are some priorities, like bit perfect reproduction, i2s dac connection and so on...
Why don't you investigate on that a little and post here your results? This will speed up the process of implementing this, since this project is run only by me... And time, you know, lacks for everything!

What's wrong with "bit perfect reproduction"?

Jamie on RS 232 control on volume play and stop http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/rs-232-control-on-volume-play-and-stop/#p79 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/rs-232-control-on-volume-play-and-stop/#p79 Hello,

yes many amps or receivers are controllable serially with rs232 commands and a DB9 connector via a null modem cable.

This could give the advantage of hiding the amp away or energy saving as an on command could be sent with play and off with stop for example.

Also non lossey volume control as the amp volume is physically being controlled

hope that makes sense thanks

Jamie on RS 232 control on volume play and stop http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/rs-232-control-on-volume-play-and-stop/#p70 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/rs-232-control-on-volume-play-and-stop/#p70 Hello,

Would be great if sometime in the future rs232 control can be linked to the volume up down and on off could be linked to play and stop.
Many people have amps or av amps that can be controlled via the rs232.

Thanks
