RaspyFi - Topic: Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/ Simple:Press Version 5.2.6 admin on Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p632 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p632 Hi, sorry... I forgot to change the no to yes... So it will become :
volume_normalization "yes"

I really don't know what is the best way to act in this scenario... I would say to use the replay gain, but I will better document on it and let you know...
I also suggest to use hard volume, instead of software... Software volume affects a lot quality performances...

wolverex on Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p626 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p626 volume_normalization "no" seems counter intuitive, could I just confirm that it should really be "no" .

Also I meant to ask how does on the fly normalization work? Would it be better to pre-calculate my entire collection and say replay gain on tag?

Thanks!

Gyp on Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p203 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p203 I'll give that a try when my DAC arrives

admin on Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p196 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p196 You can, just do

sudo nano /etc/mpd.conf

find this part

# This setting enables on-the-fly normalization volume adjustment. This will
# result in the volume of all playing audio to be adjusted so the output has
# equal "loudness". This setting is disabled by default.
#
#volume_normalization "no"

and uncomment volume_normalization . It will become like this:

volume_normalization "no"

then ctrl + x , and exit

then restart mpd with

sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart

Et voilĂ ! Let me know!

Gyp on Volume normalisation http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p188 Wish List http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/wish-list/volume-normalisation/#p188 Not sure if this is possible, but something to normalise the volume levels would be most welcome.

I'm finding that volume levels are quite variable and I'm having to get up from my seat and adjust the volume control all night.
