I have written an updated R.U.Sirius's script(s) with an option to run as a service. The problem with <10min and once fixed <100min have also been fixed. Also added the VOL in the display

I am now in the process of expanding the front-end to drop the SONG NAME and replace with the RADIO STATION NAME if there is no SONG INFO given...

Have a look at http://aubreykloppers.wordpress.com and you will see how it works and some nice scripts added

Nice peace of work.

Using it on Volumio

But...

If the song played is longer than 9 minutes and 59 seconds an error occurs.

File "/home/pi/display/showSongInfo.py", line 65, in
time = statusLines[1].split(' ',1)[1].strip()
IndexError: list index out of range

Could you take a look at it?

Thanks.

Great work!

I've just seen this topic, I also wrote a quick python script to operate Adafruit LCD. I don't have text scrolling yet as you do. However i've added playlist selection : https://github.com/jotak/jopi-mpd

I love your project, it is exactly what would finalize my mulit raspyFi audio setup.
If you need UI assistance, I can be of assistance (being a UI teacher maybe even I can give it as an assignment to 200 students)
I hope you can share some soon.

* RaspyFi on Adafruit PiPlate,
*Using HDMI or Analog Out,
*Changing your code to suite a better environment.

I hope this is to your liking/approval

Has anybody forgot to install ethernet cables in the bathroom last time you renovate home?
I did.
But I soon discovered I needed to listen to my flac music collection/internet radio/deezer while shaving, taking a shower or... whatever.
Thanks to Raspyfi I've got the solution: revamp my old Bose Wave feeding it's linein with a Fiio E10 DAC driven by our friendly neighborhood Raspberry wrapped in a black plastic case.
WiPi to get the wifi working, of course.
Before you ask, the flac collection sits on a Synology 212j NAS.
Fun thing: Raspify webUI suits well with my tiles!

Thanx Michelangeloz!

I've had a pi for a little while now and used it play around. My goal was always to use it as a controller for a multi room audio setup.
I've recently moved into a new home and there is already some existing wiring for audio.

But I'm not sure how it was designed to be used...
I have several blank switch plates all all over the house in different rooms and they all have access to four cables (14/2 (x2) 16/4 and cat5e).
I've done some reading and I see that some systems use cat5e, and some use the /4 for the controls. But I'm confused because none of these seem to access a terminal end of the cables, just the middle.

Can someone explain how this could've been intended to be used? I know that there is more than one cable set running (I would guess a different set to each room/zone) because the living room has access to a very large bundle of the same cables (4 sets of the above mentioned 4 cable bundles).

And just to clarify, the house is aleady wired for ethernet, so the cat5e in the walls I am mentioning is not for that.

The guy who built the house was planning to setup a multiroom system but said it was really expensive and so he didn't, but I would like to be able to do this with a few pi systems and achieve a multi-room setup.

Any advice/direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
~B

I used it, because with its internal charge pump it can create full 2V RMS output without the need of an external power supply. That makes it easy to use for the Raspberry user. It also has not only good technical specs, but also sounds really nice and can run up to 192kHz/24bit.

I expect to finish the prototype testing in about 2 weeks. I will announce the pricing, if I'm sure, that everything works as planned and I do have the right components.

The PCM2704 does not have an internal charge pump. Therefore it's voltage swing is limited to the power supply voltage which is 3.3V. That means about 3V Vpp, which is about 1V RMS. The HiFiBerry can provide full 2V RMS, which means it is about 6 dB louder at full swing.

Thank you. I knew you'd know the answer!

What DAC do you use in the HiFIBerry? And why did you go for that particular one?

Approximately how much do you anticipate the kit to cost?
